What is managed security service provider?

Managed security service provider (MSSP), is an information technology service provider that sells security solutions to businesses. An MSSP’s role is to protect businesses from security threats. This could include providing software and services to keep company data safe, or building a network security experts to respond to attacks when they occur.
MSSPs offer cybersecurity monitoring and management. This may include intrusion detection, virus and spam blocking, firewalls, and management of virtual private networks (VPN). MSSPs can also manage system modifications, upgrades, and other matters.
What do MSSPs serve?
MSSPs can be contracted by organizations to handle all or part of their IT security functions. These companies offer a range of services such as continuous security monitoring and vulnerability assessment, threat intelligence assessments, intrusion management and video surveillance, access control, and access control. MSSPs can also offer security recommendations and some level or continuous security. They can also develop policies to protect a company’s infrastructure.
MSSPs can be a cost-effective and efficient way to protect your network and data from intrusions. They also reduce the complexity of the process. An MSSP is more cost-effective than hiring an in-house cybersecurity staff. Businesses can also save money by using MSSPs to purchase software and equipment.
Due to increased security threats, large enterprises often benefit from MSSP services. As security threats change, MSSPs can also be beneficial to small and medium-sized companies (SMBs). There is a growing demand for MSSPs and the global managed security service market is expected to reach $46.4 million by 2025.
There are six main types of managed security services:
There are several types of managed security services
Consulting on-site
MSSP consulting refers to when an MSSP visits a company and performs a detailed security analysis of its network. This identifies potential and real-world vulnerabilities. MSSP on-site consulting is where the MSSP finds security holes and then helps the company fix them.
Management of the client’s network perimeter
A perimeter is the line that separates the organization’s internal assets and the public. It is used in network security. If security is a primary concern for a single enterprise network, its perimeter would be the perimeter that protects it from outside attack. A perimeter serves to restrict access to sensitive data. It usually controls who and what can be accessed to the network. As an MSSP, your job is to ensure that the network perimeter of large enterprises is secure and that all devices are protected.
Product resale
Product resale can be a revenue-generating service for MSSPs, but it is not a managed services. An MSSP sells software, hardware, and services to clients. An MSSP might offer a range of security products, such as firewalls and intrusion prevention systems, to its clients.
